Configure mapview and layer for vMAP

In the Mapview & Layers section, administrators can configure the basic information, fields, values, and templates of mapview and layer, so that front end users can successfully map data on mapviews in vMAP Portal.
Configuring panel (object inspector) and popup information can help you to view detailed information of objects on mapview.
To better compare and analyse different areas, in particular neighboring regions, the random color feature is a useful tool as it assigns different polygons with different colors while ensuring that adjacent polygons will not share the same colors.
How do I configure mapview and layer?
Mapview is a collection of layers (datasets e.g. points, lines, polygons) with a style definitions. To configure mapview, please follow below operations:
- Configure layer type for vMAP
- Manage layer for vMAP
- Manage layer group for vMAP
- Configure Panel for vMAP
- Set popup window for vMAP
- Manage mapview for vMAP
- Set random color for polygons
Configure layer type for vMAP
Layer type is the template of layer, which defines the data fields of the point/line/polygon on the layer. In order to map the spatial data with matched fields in vMAP, you need to configure layer type first before importing data and creating mapviews. For detailed operations, please check Configure layer type in vMAP Admin Center.
Manage layer for vMAP
Layers can be created both in vMAP Portal and Admin Center. vMAP Portal users create layer for their own use, such as adding to mapview. In Admin Center, administrators can create and assign the layers to Mandators, Layer groups, and Mapviews. So all users with the same Mandator can view and further operate on the created layer. For detailed operations, please check Manage layer for vMAP.
Manage layer group for vMAP
A layer group usually contains several layers with some similar features. It helps users to keep various layers organised. In vMAP Admin Center, you can edit the information of layer group and assign Mandators and Layers to it. For detailed layer group management, please check Manage layer group for vMAP.
After the layers assigned to layer group, in vMAP front end, you can add/delete a map layer to/from a layer group.
Configure Panel for vMAP
The Panel (Object inspector) is a place in vMAP where you can check the detailed information and attributes of the object (point/line/polygon) on the mapview.
Panel setting in Admin Center is used to configure the displayed information of Object Inspector in vMAP front end, which is based on layer type fields of imported data (As shown in the red box below). For detailed operations, please check Configure Panel (Object Inspector) for vMAP.
Note: If you haven't set Panel in vMAP Admin Center first, the Object Inspector area will have no information.
Set popup window for vMAP
Popup windows display defined data information of objects (points/lines/polygons) while mouse hovering over pre-set objects in vMAP Portal.
The Popup section in vMAP Admin Center is to set the information and style of the popup windows, which display your needed data information of points/lines/polygons in vMAP front end (As shown in the red box below). For detailed operations, please check Set popup window for vMAP.
Manage mapview for vMAP
The mapviews should be created by users in vMAP Portal. In vMAP Admin Center, administrators would view and manage the information, assigned Mandators, included layers and layer groups of the already created mapviews. For detailed mapview management operations, please check Manage mapview for vMAP.
Set random color for polygons
The Random Color function can render the polygons with different colors, and make sure that the two adjacent polygons will not have the same color. This helps best differentiate and view different areas. For detailed operations, please check Set random color for polygons.
