Manage layer for vMAP

Layers can be created both in vMAP Portal (front end) and Admin Center (back end).

In Admin Center, you can assign layers to Mandators, Layer groups, and Mapview after creating layers.

How do I manage layer?

You can manage layer by following operations:

  1. Create a new layer
  2. Edit a layer
  3. Delete a layer
  4. Edit layer type
  5. Edit panels

Create a new layer

On the Layer page, Click vMap Admin Center update 201801002_54_1 button in the left Layer panel, the New layer window appears. Input layer name and select a layer type and render type. Click vMap Admin Center update 201801002_50_3 to save it.

Note:

Layer Name and Layer Type fields are required fields.

Render Type - Web: will directly render and show the geometry data by web canvas.

Render Type - Server: will render the geometry data in vMAP backend server. Normally vMAP uses server as render type.


Edit a layer

1. Edit the layer Name and Type

On the Layer tab, choose a layer from the layer list in the left panel, layer details will display in the right panel. You can edit basic information except Layer ID, click vMap Admin Center update 201801002_43_2 to save the changes.

2. Assign layer to Mandator

The Mandator tab displays the Mandator that the selected layer has been assigned to. If you have more than one Mandator in your system, then:

Select a Mandator in the right column and click vMap Admin Center update 201801002_52_3 button, the selected Mandator is moved to the left column, then the selected layer will be assigned to the Mandator.

Select a Mandator in the left column and click vMap Admin Center update 201801002_52_2 button, the selected Mandator is moved to the right column, then the selected layer will be removed from that Mandator's layer list.

3. Add layer to a group

The Layer Group tab displays the layer groups that the selected layer has been assigned to. To add layer to layer group, please create layer group beforehand.

Select a layer group in the right column and click vMap Admin Center update 201801002_38_4 button, the selected layer group will be moved to the left column, and the selected layer will be assiged to this layer group.

Select a layer group in the left column and click vMap Admin Center update 201801002_39_1 button, the selected layer group will be moved to the right column, then the selected layer will be removed from this layer group.

4. Mapviews tab

This tab displays the Mapview that contains the selected layer. They are read only, and need to be included in certain mapview in vMAP Portal. For adding layers to a mapview in vMAP Portal, please refer to Create a new mapview.


Delete a layer

Select a layer and click the vMap Admin Center update 201801002_47_1 button.

Note: If the selected layer has linked to Mandator, mapview or layer group, it can’t be deleted and you need to cancel their links first.


Edit layer type

Select a layer and click edit_layertype, it will switch to its layer type editing page.

And the layer type that the selected layer belongs to will automatically load in the Layer Type page. For details of layer type, please refer to Configure layer type in vMap Admin Center.


Edit panel

Select a layer and click vMap Admin Center update 201801002_49_1, it will switch to this layer's panel editing page.

And the layer type that the selected layer belongs to will be automatically loaded in the panel page. For details of panel editing of that layer type, please refer to Configure panel (Object Inspector) for vMAP.
